Athletes who play contact sports are at a higher risk of concussions and injuries to the mouth. To help best protect athletes, we offer custom sports guards that mold perfectly to the mouth.
Our Difference:
Over the counter mouth guards provide a quick and cheap solution, but do not offer optimal protection or comfort due to their inability to mold perfectly to the mouth. Often, over the counter mouth guards are bulky which make it difficult to breathe and talk. Even the boil and bite guards can be uncomfortable due to the thermoplastic material they are composed of.
Our solution is a custom sports guard that is designed to fit perfectly which provides a custom barrier between teeth and soft tissue around the mouth and jaw. This custom barrier prevents cuts and tooth damage due to the perfect mold. Further, it acts as a shock absorber by providing cushion to the face and jaw upon impact which may help to lessen the effects of concussion and traumatic brain injury.
In fact, in a study done by General Dentistry in 2014, athletes who wore over the counter mouth guards were more than twice as likely to suffer traumatic brain injury and concussions than those wearing custom mouth guards.
Custom mouth guards also allow for increased oxygen flow because of their perfect fit which can allow muscles to recover quicker and enhance performance during competition.
